Mini Dust Bowl yesterday!

video

I can't imagine living through the real one that happened so long ago. My boys said they couldn't even see driving on the Ibp road home from school that it was like a snow storm with dirt!

Happy Mother's Day!

This is my Mom "Janet" and I, We had a bad spring storm come in the middle of the night and a tree had fallen on our dinning room wall! There was glass all over the floor from the window that was to the right of the hole in the wall. My Dad had run over the broken glass to get me out of the living room where I was sleeping and get me along with my Mom down in the basement to safety!

Meet Hercules!

This is my father in law feeding Herky Carrots!

Here is Herky our Llama! He is the watchmen of the sheep herd and he does a mighty fine job of it if I do say so myself! He protects them from the coyotes while they are in the pasture! He doesn't even let the farm dogs bother the sheep! When they are lambing in the winter in the barns he is always right there by the mother making sure she is Okay! When we move the herd to or from the pasture he is the last one to come, he makes sure all of the herd gets to the next destination! He won't leave any behind!! The trapper that comes in the winter says the coyotes just have tracks around the pasture fence now since we have gotten Herky! When he runs he gallops like a horse and gets frisky and bronco kicks once in a while just like a horse does.

I miss my sewing machine and needles!

After today if the rain holds off we should only have 80 acres of soybeans left to plant! Yesterday morning when I was digging in front of my husband planting, there was a red tail hawk waiting for me to dig up the field mice! I am lucky Samuel our youngest son switches off with me so I can do all the little things that clutter up. Working corn ground is kind of hard on the back. Plus we bought some hay from a neighbor that weighs a hundred lbs. or more so that don't help any I guess we got our money's worth per bale. Josh our oldest comes and helps me with chores if he doesn't have to work at the elevator. Thank you God for strong boys! While I am digging I am thinking about all the things I want to start making after field work I can't wait to get a start! I have 3 new quilt patterns and new doll patterns too! Plus get a start on fall decor. I have some really cute patterns of witches and old crones, the headless horsemen witches boots and the list goes on! I am pumped now that I had a break away from sewing I can't wait to get back at! So be on the look out for new things to come in the next weeks.
Sincerely, Ellen
